Home Extensions FAQs

How do extensions connect new and existing rooms?

Athans Building Services can prepare an existing room for connection and complete the surrounding interior work so the transition feels considered. The scope may include internal doors, trim and minor repairs to adjoining areas. Each home in Cheltenham and nearby South East Melbourne suburbs has different requirements, so the work depends on the project design.

What interior finishes can be included in extensions?

Extension finishing can include plasterboard installation, patching and painting walls, flooring, skirting boards and other trim. Shelving or cabinetry may also be included where suitable. Athans Building Services can discuss the required finishes for your South East Melbourne home and confirm what’s covered in the agreed scope.

Can windows and doors be fitted during extensions?

Window and door installation may be included when it suits the extension design and any required approvals are in place. Athans Building Services can discuss the relevant fitting and interior finishing tasks for your Cheltenham project. The design and approvals determine what can be completed as part of the work.

Do you handle structural work for home extensions?

Structural work must be completed by appropriately licensed trades. The same applies to electrical and plumbing work. Athans Building Services can assist with suitable carpentry and interior finishing tasks, while those regulated parts of an extension need to be handled by the licensed professionals responsible for them.

How are extension projects planned around existing homes?

The scope is considered in relation to the existing rooms, the planned connection and the finishes needed to complete the space. Athans Building Services discusses the work with customers before confirming the tasks to be carried out. This helps clarify how the extension and adjoining areas will be treated.

What areas do you serve for home extensions?

Athans Building Services provides home extension and interior finishing services in South East Melbourne, including Cheltenham and nearby suburbs. The work can cover tasks such as room connection preparation, carpentry, patching, painting and finish work. Get in touch to discuss the requirements and location of your project.
